  4. 3.1 contains several minor fixes:  long names and labels no 
  5. longer wrap down where they shouldn't, page flipping for the 
  6. roster display has been fixed, and the name change feature has 
  7. been improved, as indicated in the manual.  A bug that shortened 
  8. names to 18 characters after printing them in two columns has also 
  9. been squashed.  Commas in labels are replaced by semicolons to 
  10. prevent crashes when loading a roster.  Sorting by grade has been 
  11. improved, grouping *'s at end.
  12.  
  13. 3.0a fixes a bug that caused grade weights rather than the grades 
  14. themselves to be displayed in the selection box when recording by 
  15. row.

  17. 3.0 incorporates many new features and other improvements.  Most 
  18. noticeably, the menu has been redesigned for clarity and to make 
  19. room for several new functions. These allow you to rename files on 
  20. disk, to curve grades for individual assignments automatically, 
  21. and to transfer names or grades from one roster to another (great 
  22. if you have readers or TAs).  Labels can now be up to 40 
  23. characters long.  You can put a / before a grade and the grade 
  24. will not be counted in calculating the final GPA.  The statistics 
  25. display now shows the number of waived assignments separately, and 
  26. the calculations of mean, variance and standard deviation have been 
  27. made more accurate.  You can set grade ranges automatically, using 
  28. either the grade distribution or the maximum possible score, and 
  29. the resultant distributions are more normal.  If you set ranges 
  30. manually, you can vary the values for + and - grades.  The final 
  31. grade is now shown along with all others on the roster display, 
  32. while the final grade display also shows the total number of 
  33. points scored and the corresponding proportion of the maximum 
  34. possible score.

  36. 2.06 enables the desk accessories.
  37.  
  38. 2.05 saves the Curve, Sign Factor and Range to disk.
  39.  
  40. 2.04 restores the "ruler" on the color monitor.

  42. 2.03 eliminates problems with the automatic recalculation 
  43. of the GPA/AVG when recording grades.  Error checking has been
  44. improved.

  46. 2.02 fixes a bug in the display of ranges for number grades and
  47. one in the routine for deleting a student's record which affected 
  48. subsequent final grades.

  50. Version 2.01 fixes a bug in the printing of names that caused 
  51. names to be abbreviated under certain circumstances.  Maximum 
  52. number of grades reduced from 29 to 28 to make room for display of 
  53. final grade.  Adding by row fixed to display "GRADE" for final 
  54. grade.  The "ruler" feature has also been improved.

  58. Version 2.0 has several major changes.  Final grades can now be 
  59. added or changed manually and saved with the roster.  You can 
  60. merge any number of rosters, letter or number.  There are several
  61. new printing options, including the ability to print one grade 
  62. with each name, to specify the number of words in the name to be 
  63. printed and to set the line spacing.  Names themselves can now be 
  64. entries of up to 255 characters.  Final grade displays can also 
  65. give the cumulative point total for each student and the 
  66. percentage of the maximum possible points which that total 
  67. represents.  Typo checking has been improved.  You can now scroll
  68. twice as fast through the roster by holding down both mouse
  69. buttons.

  71. Version 1.8 allows you to sort records on any field, i.e. to 
  72. arrange students in descending order according to their grades for 
  73. any particular assignment, or final scores.  Other minor fixes.

  75. Version 1.7 fixes some bugs in the way 1.6 handled grades recorded
  76. as slashes or spaces in number files.

  78. Version 1.6 contains several improvements over version 1.3.  First,
  79. the current version is compiled, so you can run it directly from
  80. the desktop.  Other new features include the ability to
  81.              
  82.            -- transform all grades and files recorded as scores
  83.               into equivalent letter grades 
  84.            -- automatically set or adjust the ranges for each grade
  85.               to fit a normal curve
  86.            -- automatically check for typos when recording grades
  87.            -- change the labels for assignments
  88.            -- delete an assignment
  89.            -- store and display up to 30 grades for each student
  90.            -- print roster with single or double spacing
